Description:
This is a Federal project constructed in 1997-98 by the local sponsor (Palm Beach County) with subsequent reimbursement by the Federal government. The planning and engineering for the project conformed to Federal guidelines and regulations. The project included eight T-Head groins immediately downdrift of South Lake Worth Inlet the placement of approximately 800,000 cubic yards sand along 1.6 miles of shorefront. The sand source for the beach fill was located in a borrow area immediately offshore of the project area.
